Learn this technique made popular by Ricky Tims.  Use novelty fabrics and add borders for a colorful wall hanging.  Or make yours with hand dyed fabrics for a blended look that makes a great background for applique.  Easy and fun for beginners and experienced stitchers.  For the class we will do the Original Harmonic Convergence (Project One in the Book).

This class differs from 101A and B in several ways.  The sampler is smaller in size and has fewer designs, but will give enough variety to learn how to use six different Westalee templates.  There will be simple pre-class instructions.  Students will bring to class the whole cloth sampler sandwiched with marked grid lines ready to quilt.  We will be using six different templates, 5 from the Westalee sampler set and the 66666" arc, 8 point crosshair, & spacing gauge that you received with your Westalee ruler foot.  Students can expect to finish their mini sampler by the end of class.

Throughout the day, as students progress through stitching their individual block designs, we will be talking about marking tools, batting, thread choices, fabric choices, the importance of starching, iron on batting tape and how to turn the Clover Chaco marking tool into a magic iron-off marker.

This class will be the groundwork you need to be able to progress oon to Beginner's 101A and B successfully.

This is a hands on class for students who have their Westalee Ruler starter set #1, including the 12 arc, 8pt crosshair, spacing gauge and the appropriate ruler foot for their machine.  Prerequiste is the Intro to Template Quilting class r previous experience with Sew Steady Templates.  Students will learn how to set up their machines, use the foot in conjunction with the 7 rulers.

Some of the more advanced block designs from the Intro Sampler class will be repeated to assure a firm learning foundation, plus students will learn how to combine more than one template in a single block design.  Attention will also be spent on developing more skills while working with more complicated designs.

A whole cloth sampler will be pre-stitched in a grid pattern.  Students will learn how to use the rulers properly and to create some basic designs that will then become building blocks for more advanced quilting designs later..... A door will be opened into the limitless possibilities that these templates offer.
